Affiliate Disclosure
If we ever earn from a link, you will know.
Where we stand today, and the rules that apply if that changes.
Where things stand now
At the time of writing, Footnote Health runs no affiliate links, no sponsorships, and no advertising. Nothing on this site earns us a commission. [Update this section the moment that changes — before the first affiliate link goes live, not after.]
The rules, if that changes
Should we ever add affiliate links or accept sponsorship, these rules apply without exception.
- Disclosure at the point of the link. Not only on this page. A clear, plain-language note appears in the article, near the link, before you would click it.
- Editorial independence. No partner sees an article before publication, and no partner has any say over what an article concludes. We do not accept payment to cover a topic or reach a conclusion.
- Conclusions first, links second. A link may only be added to a recommendation the article already makes on the evidence. We never shape a recommendation around what happens to be commissionable.
- No supplement or treatment commissions. We will not earn a commission on supplements, treatments, tests, or anything else where the financial interest could bias health guidance. This is the line we care most about.
- Price does not change for you. Affiliate arrangements pay out of the seller's margin. You never pay more for using our link.
- Sponsored content is labelled as such — clearly, at the top, in the same size type as everything else.
Why the line is drawn there
A publication that earns money when readers buy supplements has an interest in readers buying supplements. That interest does not need to be conscious or corrupt to distort what gets covered and how confidently. The cleanest fix is not to have the interest.
Regulatory note
Disclosures on this site are intended to satisfy the US Federal Trade Commission's Endorsement Guides and comparable rules elsewhere, which require that material connections be disclosed clearly and conspicuously, close to the claim.

If you think a disclosure is missing or unclear, tell us athello@footnotehealth.com. We would rather over-disclose.
